PARTNERSHIPS

WLCI invites international conservation donors and partners to support a scalable, community-led wetland restoration programme within the Lake Mutanda wetland complex.  WLCI’s proposed restoration programme will deliver measurable outcomes aligned with Uganda’s national environmental frameworks and global commitments, including biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and ecosystem restoration targets.

Your collaboration with WLCI will help us with our plans for:
• The protection and restoration of habitats within the Lake Mutanda wetland system, for key species such as the Grey Crowned Crane.
• The deployment of technical expertise in community-based monitoring, habitat management, and species recovery planning.
• Engagement with local and central government and environmental policy makers.
• Comprehensive biodiversity assessments of aquatic ecosystems and avifauna.
• Capacity building for local conservation practitioners, community groups, and youth-led initiatives.
• Knowledge exchange and replication of proven wetland restoration models from other East African wetland systems.
• The development of transboundary conservation initiatives where shared catchments and ecological corridors require coordinated management.

Your collaboration will enable WLCI to:
• Deliver nature-based solutions that contribute to Uganda’s environmental policy objectives and international frameworks such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
• Strengthen local institutional capacity and long-term stewardship of wetland ecosystems.
• Replicate proven approaches to wetland restoration with demonstrable ecological and socio-economic impact.

This WLCI proposal offers a high-impact opportunity for donors to realise their conservation goals in the regional and international contexts.  If you and your organisation would like to find out more about how WLCI can work with you to achieve these shared goals, then please email Sandra Gray on sandragray19542022@gmail.com and we can tell you more about what we have achieved so far, and how the restoration plans are evolving.
